So, to start we have a piece of Cedar that was cut from our Ranch. Now if you don't have access to a tree; there is always some place that has log slaps cut for a small price.

Here in Texas-First Mondays in Canton is great to get pieces for really inexpensive.

So I sanded using an orbit sander(easier to handle) use 60, 80, 120, 220 in that order to get a smooth finish. Wipe down fully.

Make sure nothing still inside.. we had a small ant farm; I had to clean out. LOL

So, now I applied Polyurethane wood clear finish. I did 3 coats. There is so many different sealers, and I do this as a hobby; so use what you want.

So next, at local market found the Cross and Hat hook. Both are cast iron, this is where you come in. What do you want this for? could be a sign like I made. Could be a center piece? Platter for food?

Now I used Vinyl letters from Joann's. Place them one BEFORE you seal- this allows the sticking directly to the wood, and the sealing makes the letters extra firm and part of the wood.

Well that is all for this project. Gave this to my father-in-law for Christmas this year. He loved it. Which was the whole point. To know that something I built would give pleasure always to some one else.
